In 2020, Dr Tsien Fua won an international cake-making competition with this cake depicting a LINAC, or Radiation Therapy Machine, with a patient receiving treatment for a head and neck cancer.
The patient on this cake is wearing an immobilisation mask, or safety mask, to keep their head still so that the radiation beam hits the cancer and avoids healthy tissue.
Dr Tsien Fua is a staff head and neck radiation oncology specialist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne and he leads the Head and Neck Radiation Oncology Service there.
